POST-TRAUMATIC STRESS DISORDER
PTSD was was first brought to public attention in relation to war vetrans, but it can result from a verity of traumatic incidents ,such as mugging, rape, torture, being kidnapped or held captive, child abuse, car accidents, train wrecks, plane crashes bombings, or natural disasters such as floods or earthquakes.
poieple with PTSD may startle easily , become emotionally numb(espesially in relation to people to whom they used to be close),lose interest in things they used to enjoy , have touble have trouble feeling affectionate, be irritable, become more agrressive, or even become violent. they avoid situations that remind them of the original incident, and aniversaries of the incident are often difficult.PTSD symptoms seem to be worse if the event that triggered them was deliberately initiated by another person,as in mugging or kidnapping.
most people with PTSD rpeatedly relive the trauma in their thoughts during the the day and in the nightmareswhen they sleep.these are called flahbacks . flashbacks may consit of images, sounds smells or feelings, and are are often triggered by ordinary occurences, such as door slammingor or a car car backfiring on the street.a person having a flshback may lose touch with reality and believe that the traumatic incident is happening all over again.
certain kinds of psychoterapy usully treat the symptoms PTSD very effectively.

mind over matter
but just what is biofeedback?
Dr marvin Domon explains it this way..IT IS simlply a perticular kind of feedback from different parts of our bodies:the brain, the heart, the circulatory system and so on.biofeedback training is the procedure that allows us to tune into our bodily functions and ,eventually to control them.how does it work? in a typical biofeedback training session a student is given this feedback by hooking with equipment that can amplify one or more bodily signals and translate them into readily observable signals:a flashing light ,the movement of a needle,a steady tone ,etc.once a person can see his heartbeat or hear his brainwaves,he has the information needs to begin controlling them.
patients have taught themselves to lower their blood pressure ,increase poor circulation to their extreme
s prevent migrain headaches and overcome insomania.

stress and health
yes in part .but what makes a person's resistance to be low?what weakens his body to such an extent that germs can mount an attack? research scientists stress (defined as wear and tear on the body by any activity)can be produced by emotions
how does this happen?experiments have shown that every emotion automatically produces certain physical changes in our body.one dramatic example of this was a man who had a surgical opening made in his stomach following an accident.this made it possible for doctors to observe the changes that occurred under different circumstances .when he was upset, his stomach became red and engorged and soon the folds were thick and turgid.acid production accelerated sharply and vigorous contractions began.
how do such dramatic changes come about ? here is how scientists explain it:whenever you in a situation of threat ,your body prepares to flee or fight . in moments of peril everything gets into the act.first, messages from your eyes or ears get carried to the pituitary gland located at the base of the brain it secretes a substance known as ACTH into the bloodstream ACTH triggers the adrenal glands, located above the kidneys , which further secretes ....cortisone.then everything within pops the heart beats rapidly .muscles of the stomach and intestines contract , forcing the blood to to circulate faster breathing speeds up.you are ready for the enemy.
after being battered by negative emotions the body breaks down at it's weakest point and illness results.

emotional health
Although it is still often overlooked, emotional health is absolutely essential to your physical health and the healing abilities of your body. Looking after your state of mind is as important as taking care of your body. But most people neglect their emotional health and only pay attention to their physical health.
Emotional health and wellbeing is about how we feel, think and behave. Nobody feels blissfully happy and thinks positive thoughts all the time. However, a person in a generally good state of mind finds it much easier to enjoy life.
People who are emotionally healthy are in control of their thoughts, feelings and behaviors. They feel good about themselves and have good relationships with the people close to them. They can keep problems in perspective. By staying calm and level-headed, they often can solve their problems.
Emotions and how you manage them is the key to having good emotional health. Many cultures consider negative emotions like anger and frustration to be bad. They teach their children to suppress their anger and frustration and brush it aside.
However, this suppression of anger or frustration is unhealthy emotionally. All emotions are useful to you, even negative ones. Negative emotions must be recognized and acknowledged. This way, the stress from negative emotions is released instead of being kept inside. This does not mean that you have to act on the negative emotions.
You need not show your anger by banging on the table. A better idea is to tell yourself: “Yes I am very angry and my blood is boiling right now. But what is the best way to resolve this situation of anger?”
Self esteem is part of emotional health. Healthy self-esteem is being able to accept ourselves as worthy and worthwhile without conditions or reservations. You must not judge yourself on past successes or failures. You are a worthy person no matter what.
Being praised helps to improve self esteem. Whenever people are praised, they tend to justify that they are not worthy of the praise. Do yourself a favour. The next time a person praises you, thank him or her and recognize the praise.
In fact, one should go as far as to record the praise down and put it down on paper. A good practice is to collect praises and compliments regularly and note them down in a file. This way, whenever you feel down or depressed, you just whip out the file and read it. You will instantly feel better and worthy.
Eating a healthy, balanced diet can help you feel better and also control your weight. A leaner you will feel more attractive and confident. Eating breakfast is important as it will give you more strength and staying power and help you to stay on your tasks throughout your day.
Coconut oil provides a boost in energy and also increased metabolism for better digestion. When people experience higher energy levels and good digestion, they feel livelier, more energetic and less sluggish. This no doubt helps to lift their spirits, letting enjoy better emotional health.
